"Thank you for applying to run the ING New York City Marathon 2009. Unfortunately, you were not selected in the U.S. lottery drawing. Please understand that we have to limit the size of the field to ensure a top-quality experience, and I hope you get to experience it yourself one day!"

I participated in the lottery for a chance to run the NYC marathon on November 1, but unfortunately I didn't make it. To be honest I don't mind running my first marathon a bit closer to home.

Ran it in 2:34, 12.2 minutes/mile. I thought I was faster than that, went with a pretty nice speed throughout the run.

Still, a lot better than the hot run last month. My left foot by the way seems to be completely recovered. My record is 2:21, but it was in the 50s then. Tonight was around 75 degrees.

Ran the last piece, the tough part from the dam back to the street.

10k turn.I'm in Umstead this morning.

I'm helping out with the Inside-Out half marathon/10k, a race organized by NCRC. My role is to make clear where the turning point for the 10k is at a beautiful spot at the Airport Overlook.

Earlier in the week I caught some sort of virus and while it's a lot better now, running these few miles was still tough.

10k turn.

Didn't go for a run this weekend, still recovering from the crazy heavy run last week. Tonight didn't go very easy but it was wonderful to clear my head. Left knee doesn't hurt anymore (it did after last weekend, under my knee really). Left foot gave a sharp needle pain after 3.2 miles or so, for 1 step. Still not 100%.

35:40 -- 10 minutes/mile

This was a very fun social run, had a really good time. Great group.

The run was good to, a short trail in Umstead. It was warm and muggy.

Not sure about the duration, forgot to start my watch. Not sure about distance either so that's cool :)

After 3 hours and 15 minutes I gave up. Then I had to walk home another 1.5 mile or so. I took the Loblolly trail. That was nice in the shadow (my water was almost over).

Lots of pollen (lots of sneezing). 85 degrees, humid. Had 3 beers the night before.
Pushed myself very hard. 13.2 minutes/mile.

First long run in hot weather this year. It was 91 degrees. Tough! Managed with a lot of longer breaks and drinking a lot of water. Good exercise. Dehydrated after the run. Legs feel good. Still have a small sore 'crack' in my left foot from the dog evasion maneuver two weeks ago. Only felt it maybe 5 times when me foot came down.

Saw a park ranger with his car on the running trail, later he came back followed by two ambulances.

13.9 minutes/mile. Probably slowest ever! But that's a good thing with this weather.
