NCRC run at Lake Johnson

Had another great run with NCRC tonight. It is so much fun to run with a group; makes me run faster.

Started running from the car which was parked 0.5 mile from the start since I was late (always like that of course -- the closer you are to an event the later you arrive ;)). Then caught up with the main group. Very humid, very warm.

Run after work

Turtle.I had a great run after work. Nowadays it doesn't get dark until late, and Umstead Park is open until 9.00 pm so with some planning I can do a long run.

I saw two deer (one of them scared me a lot) and all the way at the end of my run a small turtle on the trail. I wonder how long it would take to cross the trail.

Race for the Cure 2009

I ran the Race for the Cure again. I really enjoyed it last year and this year was great again. I ran with the NCRC team.

My time was around 26:15 but I forgot to switch off my watch at the finish so I'm not sure. That's very close to my time last year. I noticed that the heat slowed me down. Even though we started at 7.00 am it was around 75 degrees, and the humidity was 84%.

The recreational run at 9.00 am had around 20,000 participants, and the event raised around $2 million for breast cancer research, treatment and prevention.

On my way to Raleigh there was a traffic jam due to a car that had crashed into a firetruck.

No NYC marathon for me yet

"Thank you for applying to run the ING New York City Marathon 2009. Unfortunately, you were not selected in the U.S. lottery drawing. Please understand that we have to limit the size of the field to ensure a top-quality experience, and I hope you get to experience it yourself one day!"

I participated in the lottery for a chance to run the NYC marathon on November 1, but unfortunately I didn't make it. To be honest I don't mind running my first marathon a bit closer to home.

Run after work

Ran it in 2:34, 12.2 minutes/mile. I thought I was faster than that, went with a pretty nice speed throughout the run.

Still, a lot better than the hot run last month. My left foot by the way seems to be completely recovered. My record is 2:21, but it was in the 50s then. Tonight was around 75 degrees.

Ran the last piece, the tough part from the dam back to the street.
