Ettie

Ettie did an internship at Odournet this summer. It's a company that does odour assessment and advices on managing odour annoyance. On their website it says "The core business of OdourNet is to assist industries and residents to be better neighbours". The company works in a number of countries like Belgium, UK and Spain. Ettie's internship was in Amsterdam but during her internship she travelled all over the Netherlands. She liked it a lot.

Paper Ettie

Here's the report Ettie made on the internship. It's a very interesting read (it's in Dutch). It describes very detailed how the company works, what kind of laws there are, technology used etc. It's interesting to see that for many kind of odour-detection there are no machines but specially trained people go out and smell. Ettie wrote in her paper that her nose turned out to be too sensitive; she was higher than average smell-sensitive so she couldn't work in the 'smelling-panel' (geur panel).
