6.5 miles - 12.8 minutes/mile

This morning I did my next run in preparation for the half marathon. 6.5 miles is the longest I've ever run, and it went well. I feel pretty tired know obviously, but no pain or strange feelings in my knees. Last November I ran about 6.0 miles but that didn't go so well. Let's see if my training so far will help.

I used this long run to really practice long distance running. I bought a belt yesterday for water, and I brought a small bottle of water and a gel. I ate the gel after 60 minutes, and it tasted pretty good. It felt nice to have water and a little bit of food with me, I can't be sure but I think it helped me run better. Like last week, I ran 9 minutes and then walked 1 minute which works pretty well for me. It's about 50 degrees today and I run in my shorts and T-shirt.

Yesterday I was considering to run, but I'm happy I waited to the scheduled day. I felt strong and if I had run yesterday I think I would have been quite a bit slower. I made a funny mistake in drawing out my 6.5 mile route -- there's a gate at Wannamaker Drive that is closed; I had to crawl under it. From there to the entrance of the golf course were the hardest 10 minutes of the run -- there's no real path next to the road and it's uphill.

Result: 83:43 minutes, 12.8 minutes/mile.
