The beach at Kitty Hawk

The beach. When we were at the beach in North Carolina the weather wasn't great. That didn't stop us from having a great weekend.

Saturday afternoon when we arrived we went to the beach. The hotel had a long pier into the sea.

The beach.

The beach.

Pier.

Pier.

Holland.

Behind those two poles, lies Holland.

A hole.

Mysterious hole.

Animal.

Mysterious animal.

Animal.

Another one.

Animal.

The beach is full of mysteries.

Comments

i think the first misterious animal is not an animal yet :)
my guess is that it is a ray or shark egg

greets!

Hey that's interesting. I thought they were a skeleton of some animal but you're right, it's an egg case of something. Fascinating!

Here are some other pictures:

the 2nd is a part of a dental plate, as used by mermaids and sea dogs. Made of parts of a crab.
The Sea is full of mysteries. Why is Holland put behind two poles? (are these the North and East pole?)

The location of Holland was a poetic assumption.

In reality there is no direct line-of-sight from Kitty Hawk to the Netherlands, the southern part of the U.K. is in the way.

Interesting.. I wonder what kind of animal made the hole?

Petra

Yes, I am curious about that too!

Does anybody know?

Did you see only one hole?
How did it smell?
would the hole be flooded when high tide?
did you poke a stick in the hole?
did you hear sounds in the hole?

- There were a lot of holes.
- I didn't smell it. I didn't want to risk getting bitten in the nose by something.
- The hole was on the beach. I don't know for sure if it would be flooded when there's high tide, but certainly when there's a storm.
- Of course I poked a stick in the hole.
- But no sounds.
