Tire pressure

Tire gauge.Today I added air to our car's tires for the first time.

We've driven around 9500 miles with the car now and last time a warning light for the tire pressure came on just before the service appointment, and I wanted to take action earlier this time.

A week ago or so I bought a tire pressure gauge -a fancy digital one- but the gauge in the air hose at the gas station was much easier to use. For some reason my digital gauge didn't give a reading on two of the tires, only after trying 6 or 7 times it worked.

It cost me $1.50 in quarters because it took a while before I had it all figured out, but now the pressure in all the tires is nicely around 30 psi.

When I drove away from the gas station I could feel the difference, or at least I imagined I could feel it.

Tire gauge.

This tire gauge is not great. The one built in to the air hose at the gas station was much easier to use.

Lucky you have a warning light for the tire pressure. "Real Cars" require manual checks for tire pressure, oil level, windscreen wipers, head- and taillights and other parts subject to wear and tear. :-)

Drive safely!

(Oh and that pressure gauge will use some air from the tire, don't use it too much...)

B.t.w. The "Post Comment" button is below the "(c)2001-2007" line in my FireFox. Good news is that I could change my Password for the first time in 3 years ;-)

Yeah, i can log in again too, should save Guus a lot of work adjusting the names all the time :)

I am glad I don't have such a "real car" -- I'm very happy that the car comes with warning lights :)

For the record: a few months ago I successfully checked and adjusted the oil level.

Just pulling your leg. I still find it amazing that European motorists still put up with the "stick shift". Automatic transmission is WAY better, particularly in slow moving traffic.

For free air, only € 8,75:

These compressors and their attached pressure guages are not reliable. First, they are out in the weather subject to degradation of the rubber parts. Next, they are often abused by careless patrons who drop them, run over them, etc. Finally, the design is not overly accurate. I have a similar one at home and it is great for seating a tire to a rim and getting close to the right pressure.

You digital checker is more accurate. It is unfortunate that they are poorly designed when it comes to seating upon the valvestem. I recommend the bigger guage for getting you close (~5psi) to the desired pressure and do the rest by checking with the smaller more accurage guage.

Hey Guus! Wow, your website really improved, but where is your addressbook??? I used it all the time, and now I lost track of my friends....

I'm glad to know you are using the address book!

I haven't been able to migrate it yet but the old site is still running and I sent you its address by e-mail. You should now also see a link to it under the regular menu on this site.

Haha, yes, your addressbook is way better organized than mine. Thanks!!

Funny thing :)

and nice progress! What is your target?

greets

Thank you.

I'm happy with my progress so far but want to continue for a long time.
