Cherry Blossoms 2006

Pictures of the Cherry Blossoms in Washington DC, April 2nd, 2006

1/15: We started our walk at the World Bank, and after a brief Starbucks visit we made our first touristic stop, at the White House.

2/15: National Cherry Blossom Festival.

3/15: On the Mall we saw a lot of people...

4/15: ...but near the Tidal Basin it became seriously crowded.

To the Tidal Basin.

5/15: I couldn't resist to take this rather cliche picture.

6/15: We sat for a long time at the Tidal Basin, enjoying the sun and looking at the crowds and blossoms. There were so many different people there, so many different languages were spoken. This is actually a shot that's taken from the same location as my last night picture of the Jefferson Memorial.

Jefferson Memorial by day.

7/15: A lot of people came out to see the blossoms.

Crowds.

8/15: Blossoms in the Tidal Basin -- it was the last week that the trees were blooming.

9/15: The Jefferson Memorial again, with blossoms.

10/15: Sasha and Guus.

11/15: We put our martenitsas up in a cherry blossom tree. We were not the first to do so, we found a tree that already had 2 martenitsas in it, we added ours to that tree.

Hanging our martenitsas.

12/15: The cherry blossoms form a great backdrop for red and white martenitsas.

13/15: A cherry blossom branch.
