History of our house
I've found some really cool pictures of our house on the website of the Haarlem Picture Archive (Archiefdienst Kennemerland).
To see all the pictures of our house online click here and search on "Haarlem, Hooimarkt". Here is a selection of the most interesting pictures.
1/12: June 25th, 1980. A fire, probably caused by a pan forgotten on the stove, destroys most of the building.

3/12: You can see the damage on the outside of the building.
4/12: The picture in the local newspaper (Haarlems Dagblad) the next day.
5/12: Close up of the damage.
6/12
7/12: The upper floor of the building (where now our apartment is) is completely ruined.
8/12: However, the structure of the building still stands. Some of the wood is kept in place and will be used again for the rebuilding.
9/12: Three years after the fire, in 1983, the building is not renovated yet but it looks like they're working on it.
10/12: The house before the fire, in 1966.
11/12: The house in 1915.
12/12: In 1960 there was still a fruit- and vegetables market in our street; here's a picture of the Friese Varkensmarkt.
