National Treasure
Saturday evening we went to the movies. We saw "National Treasure", an action movie in a James Bond/Indiana Jones style. Honestly speaking the movie wasn't very good, and I guess it was made for a much younger audience, but we had a very nice evening. It was fun to go out and relax. What I also liked was that so many famous places in the States played a role in the movie, such as the US National Archive.
Afterwards we went to Summer's, a bar in our neighbourhood, where we ate and had a few drinks.
Sunday we spent the afternoon in Georgetown, a nice neighbourhood across the river from Arlington. We had lunch in a place which claimed that many presidents had patronized it. It was a very cozy place and the food was good.
Yesterday I went for fitness in our building for the first time. It wasn't very busy in the fitness room, which is located on the highest floor and has a great view. It had been a while since I ran a longer distance, and I could feel that running took me more effort than it used to do. I guess that's a matter of exercise. I'll also have to find a program that suits my style of running -- there's quite a difference between running a real track and running on the treadmills we have up there.
I've developed a cold over the last days, nothing too bad but a bit annoying.

Hoi Guus
Vanmorgen hadden Gerben en ik een kado in onze schoen. We hadden een wortel voor het paard van Sinterklaas klaargelegd. Daar heeft hij van gegeten. Maar er lag ook een envelop voor jou bij! Nu schrijf ik wat er in de brief staat.
" Lieve Guus
Sint heeft eens bij de lijstjes gekeken,
en daar is iets ernstigs uit gebleken.
Er was 1 lijst minder dit jaar,
en dat vindt Sint raar.
Snel heeft het zijn Pieten gevraagd,
maar die hebben zich ook niet aan een antwoord gewaagd.
Verder ging Sint op onderzoek,
En checkte zijn grote Boek.
Hierin was ook niets vermeld,
Dus toen heeft Sint zich bij www.guusbosman.nl aangemeld.
Daar bleek wat er aan de hand is,
Maar jongens wat een gemis.
Je bent vertrokken naar de overkant
En dus weg uit Nederland.
Beste Guus graag had ik dit eerder vernomen
Dan was ik dit jaar ook naar Amerika gekomen.
Voor jou een gedicht, ook in een andere taal
Wordt het een heel mooi verhaal.
Guus hopelijk volgend jaar weer hier
Dat doet me veel meer plezier.
Toch veel succes gewenst daar
En wordt niet al te raar.

Hi Guus
This morning we saw a present in our shoe. Sinterklaas gave it to us, after we gave his horse Americo a carrot. In my shoe was also a letter it is for you. And this is what it says:
"Dear Guus
Sint thought he lost one of his lists of gifts.
He asked his Pieten who were working late night shifts.
The Pieten also didn’t see it
They were looking in every kit.
Sint went for search very fast
And got his Big Book for a help at least.
In this Book nothing was mention
But something got his attention.
Quickly he asked for a login name by www.guusbosman.nl and yes
He was finding the answers.
Guus moved to America in November
And yes now I remember.
Dear Guus, it was easier when you sent an e-mail to Spain
So I don `t think I am going to be insane.
With the message that you `re leaving
You can also a present receiving.
Now it is too late
I can`t sent you your present mate!
That `s why I `m doing my very best
For my English test.
So I can write you this poem.
And you can show it to them.
Guus next year I hope to see you
And then you get absolutely a present in your shoe.
