Easy Saturday

An easy Saturday today. In the morning I was studying this Java-thing, later I went for lunch with Jelly and Olga. When I left home it was raining, but after a while it got much nicer and we sat outside.

Made lasagne in the evening; read a bit.

Java

Studying for Java Certified Programmer Exam

Now I'm as good as done with my internship. In the beginning of next week I'll hear my mark, and there is nothing else left for my graduation.

However, there are always new things to study: I would like to get two "Java certifications". I'll start with a very simple one: Java Certified Programmer. There is not really a lot of new stuff to study for this as I've been working with Java for many years now. But, I like to have a certificate, and to be forced to study the small details once more. To get this certificate I only have to do 1 test, which I have scheduled for this Friday.

Demo

I gave a demonstration today of the software I've been working on. A potential customer was interested in the technology we've used, so a group of people came to Chess.

It's a foreign company, so we tried to translate the frontpage of the website into their own language. We had used various translation websites for this, because none of us knew the language. They smiled when they saw it -- they appreciated the effort but the translation was pretty bad they told us ;)

ESI

We went to Amsterdam this evening; there was a drink of the Economisch Sociaal Instituut of the VU.

It was in "Café Kale de Grote", a bar at the Marie Heinekenplein in Amsterdam. Very nice.

Extra course

I've been e-mailing with the VU about an extra course. Not that I have to do another one but they've awarded me with 2 points for a course I never did.

Obviously something went wrong: the course is called "Keuzevak 2", it's of the Faculty of Medicin. I suppose somebody made a mistake when entering data in the computer. The course will be erased from my list; I just hope that this doesn't mean somebody else didn't get the deserved points.

The mark for my paper is almost ready -- I'll probably hear it next week.

Haarlem Jazz City 2003

This weekend it's Haarlem Jazz City again; there are many music stages throughout the city.

We went out with Jerry and Marjolein yesterday night. We spent the biggest part of the evening around a smaller stage at the Spekstraat, behind the Grote Markt. The music there wasn't exactly jazz, but the atmosphere was very pleasant. Had a really nice evening; home around 02:30 o'clock.

During the day I visited Jip who celebrated his first birthday. Last time we saw him was when he was just born. He's quite big already. No real talking or walking yet, but experiments have been started.

13 hours sleep

Tuesday night I didn't sleep very well (we'll never eat from there again!). Yesterday I felt pretty weak all day, and I left home early.

When I came home I wanted to take a quick nap before dinner, so I went to bed at 18:00. Well, I missed dinner: I woke up at 04:00, and decided to continue sleeping :) So now I'm a lot more fresh, after a 13 hours night of sleep.

Too bad I couldn't go to Jelly's graduation party. She graduated with an average 8, congratulations!

Feeding cats

Cats eating.I just came back from the house that Jerry and Marjolein are temporary taking care of. I went to feed the four cats that live there.

It was quite a complicated operation as each of the cats has a different place to eat its dinner and each of them has a different diet. I managed quite well I think, without getting seriously scratched.
