The House - the History of the House of Representatives

The House is a great book about the great story of the U.S. House of Representatives. Robert Remini has done a marvelous job bringing to live the history and development of politics and culture in the House, from its early days in the late 1700s until today.

The beauty of the book is that it offers a different perspective of looking at U.S. history. Where usually history books would pay a lot of attention to Presidents and important business men, The House focuses on important members of the House, its Speakers and the development as an institution. The history of the House is fascinating, and Mr. Remini shows what a unique and important institute the House was and is in the United States.

While the book is over 600 pages, it's never boring and that is no mean feat. The book is well written and well edited, and it.s a rightful winner of the National Book Award. The author is now the official House historian. He has written many other books about U.S. political and military history, and I look forward to read his other titles.
