First plant
Yesterday we bought our first new plant in Durham.
Unfortunately we had to leave two plants in Arlington, but they were quickly adopted by other people on our floor in the week before we left.
This plant I saw the other day at Kroger, and it's a type that we used to have in Haarlem as well. It's dense, compact and has a nice light green color.
Yesterday evening we went out in Durham, in a bar called Satisfaction. Around 10.00 pm they started a karaoke session, which was surprisingly very entertaining. I did not get on stage (a next time) but we song for many hours. A fun evening, we were home around 2.00 am.

To tell the truth, I'm not surprised that you liked it. In the past I always knew where you were due to your loud singing or whistling. You once saved a Michael Jackson concert, because I only heard you... But why didn't you perform yourself? You're not becoming shy, are you? ;-)

In ons eerste huis kochten we ook een plant, zo'n soort ficus. Deze was nog niet zo groot toen we verhuisden naar het tweede huis, en de plant ging mee. Maar na daar 10 jaar gewoond te hebben had die plant ondertussen meer 'boom'aspiraties gekregen, en de nieuwe eigenaars hadden niet het minste bezwaar dat we hem achter lieten (ik wel, maar tja, terwijl we met onze nieuwbouw bezig waren woonden we eerder krap, zo'n 'boom' had onze beschikbare ruimte sterk beperkt.
Nu hebben we ook zoiets zoals jij gekocht hebt. En ik kan je zeggen: dat groeit! Hard! Ik weet zeker dat, wanneer we -eindelijk- naar Amerika verhuizen, ik er iemand heel gelukkig mee ga kunnen maken.
(oh ja: het helpt niet om de toppen er uit te knippen, want ze schieten zo weer opnieuw de hoogte in!)
Praat dus maar niet teveel tegen je plant, want anders plamt hij straks heel je huis in. :-))

Ik ben gek op deze ficus, vooral omdat 'ie me doet denken aan de allereerste plant die ik ooit had in mijn eerste woning in Florijn, in Amsterdam.

Ongelooflijk, die bloem in die cactus!
Ik heb toch de indruk dat het om een ander 'familielid' gaat uit die ficus familie die ik hier heb staan, want de mijne gaat vooral in de hoogte, en niks in de breedte. :-(
(of ik heb hem weer totaal verkeerd behandeld, dàt kan ook)
