A city flooded
The news coming from New Orleans is becoming worse and worse.
A week ago it was "just" about a city threatened by a hurricane. After the hurricane passed there was a sense of relief that the city didn't get directly hit. But the water that came afterwards turned out to be the real villain.
The situation looks extremely bad for the thousands of people who are still stranded in the flooded city. Let's hope everybody gets out as quickly as possible. It will take many months, likely years, for the city to recover.

A city flooded
Not very long ago (4 weeks) we were there. Its very strange to look at the place on television and hardly recognising it. Were are the people we've met there. Are they safe?

Argh! I don't remember my login! First about the log before this, Roosevelt Island is really special, an undiscovered gem! You may remember my pictures of a frozen Potomac and Georgetown, those were taken from there.
As for New Orleans, the more I read the more annoyed I get with all the criticisms. The first thought was everything was fine, so logically most rescue agencies thought so too. Then the situation deteriorated quickly and the scramble happened. I wonder how prepared any country in the EU would be for a disaster of this magnitude. Always easy to be dry and point fingers. I hope New Orleans recovers, it's unique and its people are unique. A very tragic and sad situation!
