Submitted fourth assignment

A few hours ago I submitted the fourth assignment of Internet Programming... Teddy Bears.com!

Always a relief to be ready with such a thing.

Chess 5 years

NH RijnhotelThis weekend we celebrated that Chess-iT exists 5 year. We were in Arnhem. It was a lot bigger than the events we had with Net.Footworks, especially because partners were also invited: there were more than 60 people.

Friday evening we arrived late, so we had a drink in the hotel. Obviously many people had digital camera's with them, but Edo was the first one today to put them online.

The Hunt for Mister UniqueSaturday we did the Hunt for Mister Unique, a very nice puzzle-tour through the city. By answering questions and reacting on SMS-messages we had to track down somebody.

Anonymous joke

A physicist, an engineer, and a computer scientist were discussing the nature of God.

"Surely a Physicist,'' said the physicist, "because
early in the Creation, God made Light; and you know, Maxwell's equations, the dual nature of electromagnetic waves, the relativistic
consequences...''

"An Engineer!,'' said the engineer, "because before making Light, God split the Chaos into Land and Water; it takes a
hell of an engineer to handle that big amount of mud, and orderly separation of solids from liquids...''

Then the computer scientist
said: "And the Chaos, where do you think it was coming from, hmmm?''

Joana left

Joana.Joana just went to the airport, she stayed here exactly one week. Yesterday we went out to Café Fidèl; very cosy. The ladies were having Margeritas, but I just stayed with a nice Duvel.

It was very nice that Joana was here. Too bad Bulgaria is so far... We had a typical Bulgarian exchange: Joana brought us sirene (Bulgarian feta-cheese) and she left with Dutch Gouda.

Graduating...

I am currently at the VU to pick up some papers for my graduation. I would like to graduate before the end of August, for financial reasons mainly. However, the official graduation date is not very related to the date of the official event. That means that I can choose between the following dates: August 27th, September 17th and October 15th. No matter what the date will be... everybody's invited!

Brought back a book to the CWI -- didn't have to pay a fine this time. Back to Chess now.

Kjuveche

Sasha and Joana.
Steven was here for dinner yesterday; we didn't see each other since New Year... Sasha made kjuveche, a delicious Bulgarian dish. It was a nice evening. Spoke with Daniel on the phone -- had also been a long time.

Later we went to see the Amsterdamse Poort.

Steven, Sasha and me.

Bevrijdingspop

We just came back from Bevrijdingspop, the Liberation Day music festival in Haarlem.

Terrence Trence D'Arby isn't the best entertainer ever, but we had a good time. There were some quite funny drunk people with rather interesting ways of approaching ladies.

Liberation Day

I went to the Grote Markt in my lunchbreak (it's just a regular working for us). I wanted to have a look at the weird tent -- it turned out to be from Oxfam.

Grote Markt at 13:00 o'clock. I wonder if Joana and Sasha are still visible?

We arrived there perhaps 10 minutes after the official start of Liberation Day but there weren't a lot of people. The weather is the same a last year: really bad.
