2:41, DNF

Temperature in the 80's, humid, hilly... this was going to be a tough run, no matter what. At 2:41 a girl hit the bridge with her bike and flew in the air, so I called an ambulance and that pretty much ended my run.

Still, great run. Really love Umstead.

Cooking on the balcony

Cooking. The weather here is just outstanding. Sunny, very warm -- it's summer. Not spring, summer.

A few weeks ago I bought an extra electrical burner and I finally got to use it. The burner allows me to cook on our small balcony. It's great!

I made an Dutch Indonesian meal with krupuk and telor ketjap (stir fried boiled eggs) -- wonderful dishes but very smelly. I cooked it all outdoors and it worked perfectly. The meal was well received.

Spring in NC

It was beautiful weather in Somerset yesterday, but when I arrived in North Carolina it was as if summer has started. Bright sun, temperature in the low 80's (28 degrees Celsius) -- you can't beat the weather in the South!

It's great to be back home; I'm staying here for two weekends.

A long day

Yesterday we left for the airport at 5.00 am, and even when I drove back there was hardly any traffic. I was in the office around 6.20 am and had plenty of time to go through my e-mail and work on a presentation.

Meetings started at 9.00 am, and really didn't stop until 6.00 pm -- one of those days! Still, it's a lot of fun and the projects are going well.

29.14!

I think this is a record -- 29 minutes and 14 seconds for the Somerset course. I should probably start running the course a little longer now!

Great Saturday

Sasha arrived late on Friday evening. Yesterday we visited a Dutch-American bakery and enjoyed a drive through rural New Jersey. On the way home we a hyacinth from a flower grower on the side of the road. Had a great day.

Today I'm planning two visits for my other website, one near New York and one near Philadelphia, so I'll be on the road.

31:23 while I didn't want to run

It took a lot of mental trickery to get myself to run. I went to the supermarket after work. I wasn't until I left the supermarket around 7 that I started thinking: 'well, maybe, really, I should go for a run'. When I was home I was so happy that I started preparing for a run. Really tricked myself into it. Feels absolutely great now, and ran a great time, 31:23. Yay!

Warm Sunday afternoon

In the morning Sasha and I walked through Colonial Park. Around 5.30 pm I went for a short run; 31:58. Great weather, running in short and t-shirt again.

30:44 after work

Great run after work! It was such beautiful weather, and due to the time change it stays light later as well. Great smell in the air; spring is coming.

St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day.Today is St. Patrick's Day, a cultural celebration of 'being Irish'.

Someone at work told me that the parade on this day started in New York City, not in Ireland, but now it is also celebrated in the old country.

Quite a few people came dressed in green to work today. I tried 'soda bread' (not nice) and Irish cheese (nice).
