On the road in Maryland

On the road in Maryland. We're on the road again! It's a great trip together.

Traffic is not bad at all, except the line at Starbucks.

Road trip for Thanksgiving

Tomorrow after work we'll be on our way to New Jersey.

It will be a nice road trip (for which we'll take two days) and we're looking forward to see everyone in Secaucus.

New passport

New passport. This week I received my new Dutch passport.

It was quicker than I had expected, it took only about two weeks for my passport to arrive back home after I applied for it in the Consulate in Raleigh.

The new passport is valid until 2011, and it's issued by the Ambassador in Washington DC which is kind of cool. I received my previous passport back also.

The consul told me that the size of the holes in invalidated passports is defined by government regulations. All Dutch consulates worldwide were required to purchase expensive hole-in-passport-makers issued by the Dutch government; commercial products don't make the right type of holes.

Birthday presents

Birthday presents. So last week I celebrated my 30th birthday. Thanks everyone for the many cards, calls, presents and messages! One loving family member sent me at least four electronic Happy Birthday cards.

I received a lot of nice presents. This weekend I'll go the Barnes & Nobles to use some of the gift certificates. And by the way, Snel en Woedend is a nice translation of Fast and the Furious.

30th birthday

30th birthday.Tomorrow will be my 30th birthday. The end of my twenties. I will now be a "thirty-something".

Yesterday we celebrated in our house with a nice party. It was a lot of fun to prepare and great to see everybody.

Halloween 2008

Halloween.Friday was Halloween and there was a big party in Alex' and Justin's house.

I was dressed up as a Dutch soccer fan. A few people carefully asked me why I was wearing a French flag but I explained things to them.

Thanks Angelo, for the picture. Angelo is the gentleman with the drink in his hand.

Vanilla yogurt

Vanilla yogurt. In the supermarket the regular yogurt is located right next to the vanilla yogurt. The regular yogurt, which I like, also looks exactly like the vanilla yogurt, which I don't like.

If you don't pay close attention, you end up with the wrong yogurt in your shopping basket.

By the way, vanilla yogurt is different than Dutch vla.

Busy

It's busy at work; there's a release coming up and that always brings long hours with it. It's a fun release though; the first one after 1.0 so there's finally some time to put in features that I had to postpone in 1.0 release a couple of months ago.

This Friday it's Halloween, this weekend I'm running a half marathon, next Tuesday are the elections and then it's my birthday.

Back home

We're back home. I had a good day at work today, and we're quickly back into our regular daily routine.

We arrived home around 8.00 pm. The last flight was as always the worst, especially since we were waiting on the tarmac to depart for about an hour.

Tonight we had shopska salade with the Bulgarian cheese we brought with us yesterday; delicious. You can get it at Whole Foods here also but the type we brought is much more flavorful.

I slept from 9.00 pm to 7.00 am yesterday. It's 10.00 pm now and I'm ready to go to bed -- it's 5.00 am Bulgarian time.
