First run in 3 weeks

Wow, it's been a long time since I've ran. In Perushtitsa I didn't see an opportunity to run, and then last week with the time difference we were all out of whack, plus I didn't want to do anything that could increase the changes of getting sick, with Joost's visit coming up.

Joost and Ankie have left, so tonight I went for my 4.5 mile run. Went well, I took an extra walk break but I wasn't too tired. Couldn't find my watch.

Cherry Blossom 10 miler

I ran a race this morning, my first one in four years. I ran with Vinayak, my coworker, and several other folks from E*TRADE.

I took Uber in the morning at 6.15 am. Next time I should go a little later, it was cold early in the morning and there wasn't much need to be so early..

Along the route there were several funny signs. Some of my favorites: "You are running better than the government", and, "Bernie would have run!". Half-way I heard a Bulgarian tourist couple talking about a good place for pictures, and I got a big smile when I yelled in Bulgarian "там е най-хубавото!".

I'm happy with the result: 91 minutes -- about a minute slower than four years ago.

Lifting a kano

"Eh, sorry, you seem pretty tall -- would you mind helping us?", a girl near rowing ramp in Georgetown asked me. So there I was, lifting a 8-person rowing boat from a high shelf. Someone was yelling instructions so things went pretty smoothly. Heavy boat!

My run went well. Longest run in quite a while. Very sore now.

Over Pershing

The race I'm preparing for is in a month. It's 10 miles so I have to increase my mileage, at least once a week. So tonight I did 7.2 miles, longer than I've done in a good while.
