Slovenia-USA over breakfast

dailylife

The customer meetings went very well this week. I demonstrated an alpha version of our product to them; it all worked and the customer likes the functionality. It’s so valuable to meet people face-to-face.

We left the hotel at 6.00 am this morning. There wasn’t much traffic on the way to San Francisco airport so we arrived early. Due to the 3 hours time difference with the East Coast I had my first conference call at 7.00 am.

Over breakfast (home-made Californian granola) I watched the game between Slovenia and the USA. The game started at 7.00 am Pacific Time, and lots of people in the airport were watching it. A great game with the USA coming back from 2-0. It really should have been 2-3, that last goal was valid!

Guus: woke up at 5; conference call at 7 now breakfast. Go USA!

In San Jose, CA

Work

I’m in San Jose, California for a business trip; we arrived a few hours ago. I just finished checking my e-mail and worked through the updates from our bug tracking system.

It’s 5.00 pm here, 8.00 pm at the East Coast, and we’re going for a run. First meeting at 8.00 am tomorrow.

Guus is on his way to San Francisco.

Netherlands-Denmark in NYC

sports

Netherlands-Denmark in NYC.This morning I watched the soccer game Netherlands-Denmark in a bar at Times Square in New York. It was a unique experience to be in a bar at 7.30 am on a Monday morning. No beer for me, just coffee, but plenty other fans had beers with their soccer game.

Petra and her mother were also there; it was great to see them. They were leaving on a cruise to Canada in the afternoon and spent some time in New York City this weekend. There were about 300 Dutch people in the bar watching the soccer game, and maybe 15 to 20 Danish fans.

It was great to watch with such a crowd, even better of course since Holland won with 2-0.

Guus is in Tonic, a sportsbar on Times Square, with a big crowd on Dutch supporters.
